Guide
Care & Maintenance
Use this guide for routine care. Always follow the instructions supplied for your exact brand and material, because finishes, sealers and manufacturer warranties vary.
Everyday cleaning
Wipe the surface with warm water, a soft cloth and a small amount of mild, pH-neutral detergent. Rinse away soap residue and dry with a clean microfibre cloth to reduce streaks. Wipe spills promptly, especially on natural stone.
Stains & stubborn marks
Start with the gentlest method. Leave warm soapy water on the mark briefly, then wipe with a non-abrasive cloth. For a persistent mark, use only a cleaner approved for the exact surface. Test it in an inconspicuous area first and never mix cleaning products.
Scratches
Use chopping boards rather than cutting directly on the worktop. Do not drag cookware, ceramics or appliances across the surface. If damage occurs, do not sand, polish or fill it yourself; photograph the area and ask the installer or manufacturer for material-specific advice.
Heat
Always place hot pans, oven trays and heat-producing appliances on a suitable trivet or heat mat. Sudden or concentrated heat can damage resin-based surfaces, affect sealers or create thermal shock, even where a material is described as heat resistant.
Substances to avoid
Avoid abrasive pads and powders, paint stripper, oven cleaner, drain cleaner, strong bleach, caustic soda and unapproved acids or solvents. On marble and other acid-sensitive natural stones, lemon juice, vinegar and similar acidic liquids can etch the finish.
Material-specific notes
Quartz
Normally requires no routine sealing. Use a trivet for heat and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads.
Granite
Sealing needs vary by stone and sealer. Ask KT Stone which maintenance schedule applies to your installation.
Marble
Wipe acidic spills immediately. Etching is different from staining and may require professional refinishing.
Porcelain and sintered stone
These surfaces are highly resistant, but edges can still chip under impact. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaner and care guidance.
